Introduction
In Vampire, characters play vampires, also called Kindred, descendants of Caine (the Biblical Cain), cursed with a thirst for blood, vulnerability to sunlight and immortality. Vampires are forever subject to the Beast, their raging animal urges of hunger, fear and rage.
Vampires generally live in cities, which are run feudally by Princes; life in a city is one of constant political manipulation and paranoia, as the powers of the city vie for power, control and food.
Vampires are creatures ruled by fear, most importantly the fear of exposure to the Kine, everyday humanity. Since the Inquisition the majority of vampires have lived under the Masquerade, an enforced campaign to hide the existence of the Kindred from humanity.
Vampire is a game of personal horror: the characters are continually forced to walk a moral tightrope between their need to survive and the horrific means by which they ensure it.
Gameplay, attitude, hints and tips for a good night in the Darkness
The Game will be only in English.
The Game is open to any level of LARP player.

Olisippo Obscura - Vampire LARP Lisboa: Clan Ventrue
From left to right:
His Grace, the Noble Virgilio da Silva, Ventrue Neonate
His Grace, the Noble Marques de Pombal Sebastiâo José de Carvalho e Melo, Ventrue Pretender Elder
His Grace, the Noble Johann Seigfried van Der Brüyn, Ventrue Ancilla
The Clan
While other clans play at politics, study philosophy, or encourage the arts, scions of Clan Ventrue focus their pursuits on the one thing that truly matters: power. Rulership is in their blood, and rare is the Ventrue who does not feel a need to command. The Ventrue legacy is that of kings and queens, a lineage of sovereigns dating back to before the rise of the Roman Empire. They consider it their divine right to lead and shape the world. This attitude not only imposes itself on other vampires, but also extends to the province of humans, where Ventrue often play kingmaker and decide the fate of mortal empires.
Noblesse oblige is a term often heard in the halls of the Ventrue. The Ventrue clan values dignitas, a virtue based on honor, propriety and respect, and those who abide by its intricate rules will ind themselves successful within the clan of kings. Ventrue are a cunning breed, educated and erudite, equally as capable with a sword as with a pen. Conservative and callous, Ventrue rarely make decisions based on emotion.
Everything they do is weighed against the acquisition of power, and only the ittest survive. They know that ruthlessness is necessary to rule a domain of fractious undead.
The Ventrue practice of royal command translated into the modern world with ease. Instead of kings and emperors, they have become powerful CEOs, controlling empires of inance and business rather than land and serfs. The clan has shifted its attention to modern technology and commerce, where it thrives like voracious wolves in a ield of helpless sheep.
In order to maintain the clan’s acumen, Ventrue choose childer from those who are already successful; military leaders, business executives, and wealthy investors join the undead ranks with ancient kings and queens.
Stereotypes
Assamite: Useful only so long as they don’t become a poison in our veins.
Brujah: Just admit you’re beaten and this will become much more pleasant.
Followers of Set: When you learn of them in your domain, do not hesitate to introduce them to their master, the sun.
Gangrel: Who would guess that Kindred so simple could be so groundlessly prideful?
Giovanni: Our stillborn siblings, who never developed a sense of right and wrong or what not to stick your cock into.
Lasombra: Pretenders to our mantle of dignity and honor, though they are formidable.
Malkavian: When you find yourself making excuses for them, it is time for the purge to begin.
Nosferatu: Surprisingly functional, should you be able to handle their odious personalities and overestimation of their own value.
Ravnos: No kingdom survives by mingling with the conquered.
Toreador: For every king there is a queen, and there are a lot of queens among the ranks of the Rose Clan.
Tremere: They can prove dauntless allies or treacherous enemies, often both within the same skin, so let them know who commands.
Tzimisce: What more do you need than their cloying scent of corruption to know that theirs is an ill presence?
Caitiff: They are mongrels, barely worthy of names. You might as well care about your furniture.
Camarilla: It is our greatest triumph, but also our greatest responsibility.
Sabbat: The inmates run that asylum.
Anarchs: There is something admirable in what they do, yet how they do it is entirely puerile.
Olisippo Obscura - Vampire LARP Lisboa: Clan Tremere
From left to right:
The Honorable Alberto Bettencourt Santos, Tremere Neonate
The Honorable Herschel, Tremere Neonate
The Clan
Of all the vampire clans, the Tremere may have the most shadowed history. Long ago, the Tremere were not vampires, but powerful mortal sorcerers, specializing in hermetic magic. Through vicious cunning and powerful ambition, they joined the society of immortal undead. Even in modern nights, Tremere are the undisputed masters of blood sorcery, keeping their secrets close and staunchly guarded. Their numerous successes have gained the Tremere many bitter enemies. Their legacy is one of occult power wielded by political acumen, and they are dangerous in the extreme.
The Tremere demand respect above all else — both from other vampires, and within their own clan.
Over the centuries, no clan has committed such terrible atrocities as the Tremere. Dark deals, horrific experiments, and vile betrayals stain their reputation. Yet the Tremere continue to hold power, based primarily on strong alliances with other clans and the leverage of their magic. Those who turn against the Tremere lose access to their occult gifts and Thaumaturgical skill. A sorcerous ally can be a powerful boon.
Wizards left their black robes and tall staves in the Middle Ages; instead, the Tremere have adopted a strict, businesslike mien as is appropriate to modern nights. Conservative suits, prim dresses and upscale accoutrements have replaced top hats and canes, as the image of occult mastery adapts with each passing age.
Stereotypes
Assamite: They show signs of being able to subvert our rituals, so the time to tolerate them has expired.
Brujah: Hubris and a lack of self-discipline have laid low the Clan of warrior-poets.
Followers of Set: We pursue the secrets of the world and they pursue the secrets in its dark places.
When too many know, secrets are no longer secrets.
Gangrel: Theirs is a simple but formidable power.
Fortunately, their blood is as susceptible to mastery as that of all Kindred.
Giovanni: Their clumsy understanding of the secret ways will shackle them to empty ritual rather than set them free to work their wills.
Lasombra: A once-accomplished lineage dragged into the muck by foul associations.
Malkavian: Once we can synthesize their stochastic perception, the Kindred will no longer have to brook their disruptive caprice.
Nosferatu: Those involuntarily placed outside the system can prove fruitful allies or accomplices.
Ravnos: Disorder sows its own punishments, yet I am happy to expedite those results.
Toreador: Form follows function, which makes the ongoing prominence of these self-worshipers such a dispiriting enigma.
Tzimisce: Peel away the rot and idolatry and all that’s left is the carcass of outmoded mummery.
Ventrue: Caesar shall have his due, and to our benefit, his love of lucre blinds him to true power.
Caitiff: As Vesalius gathered his cadavers, so do we solicit volunteers in the understanding of our sciences.
Camarilla: A sundered house still offers shelter.
Sabbat: They do not understand their own ends, and damn themselves thus.
Anarchs: In the absence of structure, autarchy yields only the brutishness of lesser Kindred.
Olisippo Obscura - Vampire LARP Lisboa: Clan Toreador
From left to right:
The Honorable Vasco Monforte, Toreador Neonate
Her Grace, the Noble Condessa de Avila Carla Reisinho dos Santos, Toreador Ancilla
The Honorable Guillemote, Toreador Neonate
The Clan
Magnificent roses in a garden of evening stars. A lilting aria in a drowsy twilight. The sweet brush of a lover’s kiss. These images evoke the Toreador, as these vampires are the most beautiful of all.
Toreador are artists, writers, and creators: artisans enjoying an immortal life of pageantry and sensuality. Unlike other clans, Toreador plunge themselves into the mortal world.
Often, they will pretend to be mortal, living as glitterati and giving patronage to inluential mortal artists. From city to city, passion to passion, the Toreador lit about, inspiring the inest art and leaving a trail of broken hearts.
With such reined tastes, it is easy for a member of the Toreador clan to become jaded and bitter, illed with ennui.
Surrounded by excess, they quickly lose interest, seizing prize after prize — the sweetest of which are those stolen from another. The oldest Toreador often become depraved, sinking into debauchery simply so they can feel anything at all.
Toreador love politics and live for hierarchy, so long as they can remain at the top. They develop cults of personality, gathering followers captivated by their beauty or begging for their patronage. They are always at the cutting edge of arts, culture, and society. They pride themselves on their beauty and poise, hosting salons and gatherings to show off their wealth and style. Those who cannot keep up are mocked and ridiculed. Vampires who are ugly, uncivilized, or show no respect for the arts are torn apart by a Toreador’s metaphorical claws. For this reason, there is an eternal enmity between the Nosferatu and Toreador clans, a hatred that will never be reconciled.
Stereotypes
Assamite: Blood-soaked barbarians.
Brujah: A fire may be stoked, but if left unattended, it may destroy what it once warmed.
Followers of Set: Worms breed in their vile footprints.
Gangrel: Beauty and the Beast, only without the complication of Beauty. Pity them.
Giovanni: Which is more unctuous: their smiles or their hair?
Lasombra: If I looked like they do, I’d hide in the dark, too.
Malkavian: The tedium of it all.
Nosferatu: They make a strong case for the Mark of Caine being a sickness.
Ravnos: There are two types of these creatures: Awful, and absent.
Tremere: Aren’t they supposed to turn back into pumpkins at midnight?
Tzimisce: It is a poor artist who blames his tools, but that’s the only conceivable answer here.
Ventrue: Why are older brothers always such corpulent bullies?
Caitiff: The worst sort of fish is the one that feeds from the bottom.
Camarilla: This house needs a good cleaning.
Sabbat: Such marvelous passion wasted on such craven dementia.
Anarchs: Only a petty ruler acknowledges no greater purpose than himself.
Olisippo Obscura - Vampire LARP Lisboa: Clan Nosferatu
From left to right:
The Honorable Beatriz Castro e Cruz, Nosferatu Neonate
The Noble Mayem do Pombo, Nosferatu Pretender Elder
The Honorable Nels Von Ralho, Nosferatu Neonate
The Clan
Members of Clan Nosferatu are physically twisted and deformed by the Embrace, turned from their mortal appearance into the shape of horrific monsters. Worse, Nosferatu deformations are so cruel and vicious that many who are Embraced do not survive. Because these vampires are so hideous, they must keep themselves hidden from mortal society, lest they break the Masquerade. These deformities cause a deep bond between members of the clan, unifying them.
Some members of the Nosferatu clan revel in their repugnant appearance, using their deformities to shock and horrify other vampires. They keep their visages clearly apparent whenever possible, enjoying the discomfort that such a sight causes. In particular, these deformed vampires taunt the Toreador; the Nosferatu hate their beauty and artistic ability with a passion. If the Toreador had their way, Clan Nosferatu would be eradicated in order to protect the Masquerade — a thinly veiled excuse to cover bigotry and elitism. Clan Nosferatu carries similar animosity and revels in hurting Toreador above all else.
Members of Clan Nosferatu make their home amid the sewers of large cities, sheltering in broods with ghouled animals to protect them during the day. The Nosferatu are information-brokers, expert at stealth and cunning in the application of political pressure. They collect secrets, spying on and blackmailing other vampires. If they are cruel in their use of other people’s secrets, it is because their eternity is a hard one. Their ugliness makes them loathed, and such alienation quickly turns to spite.
Legend has it that the Nosferatu Antediluvian regretted breaking Caine’s law, and when the clan was cursed, he swore to eradicate his progeny from the earth. He took the most powerful of his brood, blood bound them, and commanded them to hunt the Nosferatu until every member of the clan is destroyed. No matter what sect or other loyalties a Nosferatu may have, the clan is unified in its fear and hatred of these Niktuku.
Stereotypes
Assamite: Secrets for amnesty seems like a fair trade.
Brujah: Emits showers of sparks. Point away from face. Point at some other asshole instead.
Followers of Set: They want our souls — usually until they understand the stench of a Nosferatu’s soul.
Gangrel: We have some common ground in being outsiders, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be careful around them.
Giovanni: Down in the sewers we see a lot of shit, but never so much as when a Giovanni heads our way.
Lasombra: I try to keep to the shadows, but I’ll hang out under the streetlights when I know one of these creeps has my number.
Malkavian: See my face? That’s what these maniacs’ minds look like. Except they’re still bleeding in there.
Ravnos: Peddlers of lies, they make great patsies, but they sure can bear a grudge.
Toreador: Sell them dirt on each other and they’ll scratch each other’s eyes out. It’s the only way to come out ahead with them.
Tremere: They’re not even vampires, you know that? They did something way wrong back in the day and now it’s stuck to them.
Tzimisce: I look like this ‘cause I have to. These fuckers choose to. That’s how nature says, “Stay away.”
Ventrue: High and mighty, until they need you.
Charge them double when they come calling. They can afford it.
Caitiff: “I never even knew my father!” Cry me a fucking river.
Camarilla: I’ll be damned, they think their claims of domain extend into the sewers.
Sabbat: Either monumentally gullible or Biblegrade wicked; either way, you’re better off when they’re somewhere else.
Anarchs: Sure, I’ll buy what you’re selling. For tonight, at least.
Olisippo Obscura - Vampire LARP Lisboa: Clan Malkavian
From left to right:
The Honorable Naghini, Malkavian Neonate
The Honorable Christophe Charpentier, Malkavian Neonate
The Honorable Yelena R. Nastenka, Malkavian Neonate
The Clan
For some, eternity is no more than a continuance of mortal existence. For Malkavians, the transition is far more abrupt and devastating. The act of Embrace shatters the minds of those brought into this clan, driving them over the sharp brink of madness — but also unlocking supernatural gifts of insight and introspection.
All Malkavians are deeply, darkly insane; their psychology is precariously balanced on the edge of sanity’s cliff. This is a painful, alienating phenomenon. The madness may take the form of a structured, clinically understood insanity, or it may be a complete reversal of the senses. It may come and go in vivid psychosis, or it may manifest as elaborate, longterm hallucinations. Each Malkavian’s Embrace shatters the mind in a different pattern; no two emerge into immortality exactly the same.
It is dificult for other vampires to relate to members of the Malkavian clan. They are fractious, unpredictable, and sometimes unintelligible. They see the world differently and, occasionally, they try to educate and enlighten others to truths that only they seem to understand. These lessons take the form of pranks, and they are elaborate, terrifying, and dangerous, following logic only a Malkavian could understand.
Malkavians Embrace seemingly at random, taking their childer from all strata of mortal society. A Malkavian’s outward appearance is usually specific to the individual’s derangement, varying from disheveled and dirty to obsessively clean. Younger Malkavians tend to be deviants and loners, struggling to understand themselves and the new world into which they’ve been plunged. Elders tend to have a better grasp of their inner pandemonium, and seem more at ease. Further, all Malkavians are connected by a vast, lingering sixth sense – some say it is the slumbering consciousness of the founder of their clan – and they all have insights beyond any mortal capacity to understand.
Stereotypes
Assamite: There’s something flattering in what they’re doing. Like I’m a little piece of their God.
Brujah: You can’t hide your horns, devil-man.
Followers of Set: Walking westward, they should meet the sun before it sinks.
Gangrel: Pin the tail on the— OW, OW, OW, FUCK!
Giovanni: Ashes, ashes, we all fall down, and get back up, and dance with ghosts.
Lasombra: A hyena doesn’t ever choose to be a hyena, I think.
Nosferatu: I have dreamed what hunts them in their dark, humid warrens, and it is what each of us can become, if we’re not careful.
Ravnos: It looks different depending on if I close my left or my right eye.
Toreador: Made up of the pieces of the people they’ve harmed. Each time they feed they become a little less.
Tremere: If you can rub those letters off their foreheads, they’ll stop in their tracks.
Tzimisce: I tried to sprinkle salt on one’s tail and he bit off my hand.
Ventrue: I will make you a fine new waistcoat, my emperor.
Caitiff: I didn’t do it.
Camarilla: When all you do is look behind you, you never realize that the door in front of you is closed.
Sabbat: They have the answer, but they don’t understand the riddle itself.
Anarchs: All they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense.
Olisippo Obscura - Vampire LARP Lisboa: Clan Gangrel
Clan Gangrel in the Domain of Lisbon
From left to right:
The Honorable Ursus, Keeper of the Monsanto, Gangrel Ancilla
The Honorable Áedán Drust, Gangrel Ancilla
The Honorable Nathan Ryder, Gangrel Neonate
The Noble Sebastien, Gangrel Neonate
The Noble Count Diego Miranda de la Fuente y Alcazar, Gangrel Neonate
The Clan
Other vampires consider the Gangrel to be primitive creatures. They do not understand the difference between primitive and predator. Yes, Gangrel can be vicious, cruel beasts, subject to animalistic drives — but they are also cunning and civilized hunters. As a clan, the Gangrel are wary and aloof. They disdain organized society and prefer to operate outside of structures and hierarchies. This individualism has caused them to develop in different ways, spawning many different lineages, from the territorialbased Anda or Mariners to the disparate Noiad or Coyote bloodlines, whose powers differ from the parent clan. The clan considers them all Gangrel.
Where other clans focus on politics, power, or acquisitions, the Gangrel are loners and travelers; few spend time in the courts of vampire culture. They have little regard for clan enmities or alliances. Conlicts with Gangrel more often concern domain and feeding rights instead of politics and power-brokering. Further, they don’t differentiate between ancient and newly Embraced vampires, as other clans do.
Instead, the Gangrel base clan prestige on an individual’s capacity and ability, rewarding courage and individual strength. Gangrel elders demand respect — but it is a respect that they are willing to earn.
Most Gangrel appear scruffy-looking, rough, and ragged, as beits a clan of wanderers. Further, when they frenzy, they take on aspects of natural creatures, lending them an animalistic mien. They shelter where they please, in the soil of the earth, and do not care what others think of their appearance. Gangrel sire sporadically, often after hunting a prospective childe. They frequently abandon the ledgling vampire after her creation, forcing her to learn the basic lessons of survival on her own. Only after the childe has proven herself will the sire return to induct her into vampire society and introduce her to the clan.
Stereotypes
Assamite: Pull off the fucking head and the body will die.
Brujah: I wouldn’t call what we have “trust.” More of an understanding that we have a common enemy.
Followers of Set: If it smells like carrion, I don’t want any part of it.
Giovanni: I try to make it a habit not to keep talking to things once I’ve killed them.
Lasombra: I’m not afraid of the dark, so you’d better have something else underneath that cape.
Malkavian: Ten gallons of bullshit in a one-gallon jug.
Nosferatu: When they get nervous, get the fuck out of there.
Ravnos: If she starts calling you her brother, pop your claws and make your point. It’s the only way she’ll learn.
Toreador: Assume that they want something from you when they lower themselves to your level.
Tremere: Fight or flight with the grayfaces. Choose carefully.
Tzimisce: When I see a carcass eaten through with worms, I’m smart enough to know it’s rotten.
Ventrue: If you like answering to a master, you can do worse… but not much.
Caitiff: Unless they pull their weight, who needs another mouth to feed?
Camarilla: Any port in a storm, I guess.
Sabbat: Self-righteous evangelical garbage.
Anarchs: Almost. They almost get it.
Olisippo Obscura - Vampire LARP Lisboa: Clan Brujah
From left to right:
The Honorable Alex, Brujah Neonate
The Honorable Alanna Iriium, Brujah Neonate
The Honorable Warp, Brujah Neonate
The Clan
The vampires of Clan Brujah were once scholars and seekers of wisdom. They inspired the glory of ancient Carthage, a mighty city where mortals and vampires lived together in peace. However, Ventrue treachery and the armies of ancient Rome laid Carthage low and forever shattered the Brujah clan. Over the centuries, internal divides have shaken Clan Brujah to its core, changing the clan’s nature from stoic philosopher to passionate warrior. The Brujah are no longer the creatures they were in Carthage.
In modern nights, the Brujah are a fiery group of warriors, individualists, and rebels, driven to both success and failure by their tempestuous natures. They feel mortal passions more deeply than other vampires, and are prone to attack first and ask questions later. Members of this clan love a cause, and will eagerly act on anything they see as injustice.
They come together in violent gatherings called rants, where they give passionate speeches, challenge rivals to personal combat, or drum up support for crusades against the status quo. They know best that the capacity for emotion can also be a dark path. Many Brujah are driven to frenzy and madness if they cannot control their passions.
Members of the Brujah clan are Embraced from many cultures, regions, and religions. The Brujah have never been selective — they choose childer based on an individual’s drive and desire to right wrongs. When it comes to itting in with the modern world, Brujah do it better than most vampires. They easily adopt styles of rebellion: shaved heads, motorcycles, rivets, leather jackets, or t-shirts with rude slogans.
Stereotypes
Assamite: Fast, invisible, fanatical, and they want to drink my fucking blood? Sounds like a good case for doing unto others.
Followers of Set: The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and the tree should have been chopped down long ago.
Gangrel: Much respect, so long as we agree it’s mutual.
Giovanni: If you have to deal with one of these nasty dagos, you’ve already lost.
Lasombra: No habla Ventrue with a different hat on.
Malkavian: Trust one? No. Find some common ground with one? Maybe.
Nosferatu: It’s better to have one telling you shit about someone else than the other way around, so be cool.
Ravnos: I’ll bet I can throw one further than you can.
Toreador: If you can catch one, see if he’ll blow you. They might as well be good for something.
Tremere: If one of these witches starts looking at you weird, you’d better hope you can get close to him before your blood catches on fire.
Tzimisce: Nasty old bats with claws where their junk used to be. But at least they’re usually honest.
Ventrue: Boot, meet face.
Caitiff: Teach them something and maybe they’ll return the favor.
Camarilla: It mostly works when we punch it into heading the right direction.
Sabbat: Giving your soul to the devil makes you a servant, you choads.
Anarchs: Get on the bus and let’s tear this Prince a new asshole together.
